DO YOU
REALLY
BELIEVE,
WHAT YOU
REALLY
BELIEVE?
1 Thessalonians 4:15-18
15For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
Avoiding hell, and making it into heaven, it is suspected, is one of the primary objectives of most every individual that refers to themselves as “christian”. The incessant bickering regarding the timetable of the above referenced event, the rapture – or ingathering (pre-trib, mid-trib, post-trib), of which is more than enough to give the host of heaven headaches, also serves as a basis for this article. Bear this in mind, NO MAN KNOWS THE DAY NOR THE HOUR “wherein the Son of Man cometh.”
That having been said, do you REALLY believe, REALLY believe, that your belief system, AND your (???) adherence to it, will afford you inclusivity in this end-time event? Allow the submission of the following information to give you a moment of pause before you definitively answer.
**********
There are approximately 38,000+ denominations in the modern landscape of christianity, and they are outlined, in large part, as follows:
- Catholicism
- Orthodoxy
- Protestantism
- Latter-Day Saints
- Non-Trinitarian
- Messianic Judaism
- Jewish Christians
- Esoteric Christians
- New Thought
- Syncretistic
In essence, these ten (10) denominational categories encompass, in part, or in total, what would be ascribed as belief systems; the number of “sub-denominations” within some of these denominational categories is quite extensive. As this truncated list is reviewed, please keep in mind what the scriptures declare; there is only ONE FAITH – or system of belief. If this is a true statement, and it is, then this list should provoke genuine concern, if there is “suppose” to be unity of THE FAITH, and if YOUR system of belief is THE correct ONE.
NOTE: The catholic church does not consider itself a denomination because it considers itself the one, holy, and apostolic Church – the original church of Christ, and as such, pre-denominational.
Catholic
Composed of two rites; one is the western or Latin rite, another is the eastern rite. The Latin Rite, or Church, is the largest and most widely known of the 22 Rites that together make up the Catholic Church. The Eastern Catholic Churches are all in communion with the Bishop of Rome and acknowledge his claim of universal jurisdiction and authority; they have some minor distinct theological emphases and expressions. The Eastern Catholic churches, and the Latin church (which together compose the worldwide Catholic Church), share the same doctrine and sacraments, and thus the same faith.
Orthodoxy
This category consists of the following: Eastern, Oriental, Churches of the East (Assyrian), and others such as the Byzantine, Western Rite, and Oriental.
Protestantism
This category consists of the following: Pre-Lutheran, Lutheran, Anglican, Reformed, Presbyterian, Congregationalist, Anabaptists, Brethren, Methodists, Pietists and Holiness, Baptists, Spiritual Baptists, Apostolic Churches – Irvingites, Pentecostalism, Charismatics, Neo-Charismatic, African Initiated, United and Uniting, Religious Society of Friends (Quakers), Stone-Campbell Restoration Movement, Southcottites, Millerites, Sabbath-Keeping Churches – Adventist, Sabbath-Keeping Churches - Non-Adventist, Sunday Adventists, Sacred Name Groups, British-Israelism, Biblical Christian, Miscellaneous/Other, Christian Revival Church.
Latter-Day Saints
This category consists of the following: Original, Prairie Saint, Rocky Mountains, Other (Aaronic, Restoration Church of Jesus Christ).
Non-Trinitarian
This category consists of the following: Oneness Pentecostals, Unitarianism and Universalism, Bible Student, Swedenborgianism, Other non-Trinitarians.
Other
This category consists of the following: Messianic Judaism, Jewish Christians, Esoteric Christians, New Thought, Syncretistic.
38,000+ denominations, representing millions of “believers” globally; it is no small wonder why much of the rest of the world views “christianity” with such disdain, and disinterest. What is more frightening, is how the Lord God views this highly fractured “belief system” of 38,000+ denominations!!!
Which of the 38,000+ denominations does the Lord refer to as the “true worshippers”, those that the Father is seeking after?
Is your belief system, THE correct belief system? Are you sure? Close to 38,000+ other belief systems and millions of "believers" world-wide, may disagree.
Then what???.
